Dortmund club Tresor.West to close at the end of 2026

Dortmund club Tresor.West is shutting down at the end of 2026.
Writing on Instagram last Friday (9th October), the club’s owners explained that it was “no longer feasible” to continue “in the current form”, adding that the “potential created here is real and we hope to see it carried forward”.
“We became known for creative concepts that kept our vision alive, and there were moments when the team’s hard work and innovation seemed to turn the tide. In the end, our vision for this space could not be sustained”, they wrote.
In an interview with Resident Advisor, Tresor.West operator Dimitri Hegemann put the closure down to a mixture of “declining visitor numbers, rising costs and changing nightlife habits”. Hegemann also revealed that they are “actively looking for someone who will carry this place forward,” with applications for ideas open until 15th November.
Tresor.West – a sister venue to Berlin’s iconic Tresor institution – opened in December 2019 inside a historic factory building. The club experienced success initially before eventually being confronted with the “bitter reality” faced by similar venues and struggling to survive.
Last January, it launched a month-long initiative offering free Saturday entry to strengthen its connection with the underground.
“Going out shouldn’t be a privilege but must remain accessible,” a statement from Tresor.West explained at the time. “Instead of bowing to the costs of the headliner DJ market, we’re investing in you, shining the spotlight on ambitious local DJs and crews, and appealing to renowned artists that meet us with fair fees.”
Tresor.West has a string of events booked for the coming months, with likes of Appleblim, Beatrice M, Peverelist, Phase Fatale and Truncate among those making up the line-up. More details of the club’s final closing event will be released “soon”.
2024 saw the closure Berlin’s much-loved riverside spot Watergate – which cited “rising costs and shifting club culture” as the reason behind the closure – with Berlin club Renate, owned by the same landlord as Watergate, closing its doors in 2025.
