Technics has just unveiled the SL-1210MKX

Technics has just unveiled the SL-1210MKX, a new professional direct-drive DJ turntable in the SL-1200 series.
The latest flagship model from Technics was unveiled today at Pacific in Amsterdam as part of Amsterdam Dance Event, and marks 55 years of the iconic SL-1200 series.
The SL-120MKX was built using input from DJs and sound engineers and incorporates greater stability and enhanced pitch precision. Additional features that the new turntable brings to the series include a heavier, optimally balanced chassis that offers greater resistance to the kind of external vibrations felt in clubs and live settings, as well as newly designed isolation feet for added stability and feedback isolation.
For the first time, it also includes extended pitch control offering a dedicated ±4% pitch range for more precise tempo correcting and beat matching. There will also be a new ±50% range for greater tempo variation.
Additionally, the SL-1210MKX includes a quieter reset switch, coreless direct-drive motor with adjustable start-up torque and brake speed, 78 rpm playback, reverse functionality, a polished silver tonearm, and elegant black finish.
Stefanie Baron, manager of Technics DJ Channel Europe, Panasonic Consumer Europe (PCEU) commented: “The SL-1200 Series has earned its reputation through decades of real-world performance in clubs, on stage and in studios around the world. With the SL-1210MKX, we wanted to build on that legacy by working closely with professional DJs and sound technicians to better understand the challenges they face. The result is a turntable that delivers even greater stability, precision and creative freedom while staying true to the qualities that have made the SL-1200 an industry standard for more than five decades.”
The SL-1210MKX will be available from January 2027 at an RRP of €1,499, and GBP £1,299.
In celebration of Technics’ 55th anniversary, this year Technics announced a limited run of SL-1200 turntables, each one with an engraved anniversary badge beside the serial number, along with gold details and a custom slip mat.
Technics also collaborated with high-end streetwear brand Aimé Leon Dore (ALD) on the SL-1200M7ALD, which landed in mulberry green with “bespoke detailing and a co-branded slip mat” as a nod to the New York brand’s signature colour scheme.
